He really is so goofy sometimes :) but that makes us love him even more, don't we?

Are Your Thoughts Result of Static Cling?

I was somehow drawn to Details In The Fabric today.

Moons ago, when I first saw the title of the song, before listening to it, my immediate 'reaction' was ..tapestry. I don't know why, but I was imagining a piece of tapestry hung on a wall, and it tells a story.

Wonder what Jason's inspiration was for that song.

Do you know how James Morrison came into the picture? Apparently they were using the same studio for recording. Not at the same time though, as Jason and team were booked for a few weeks for WSWDWST, followed by James and team for his new album Songs For You Truths For Me (which has fab songs by the way). Oh and both had Martin Terefe as producer.

When it was James' turn to use the studio, Jason wasn't done yet, and James wasn't ready yet, so they hung around a bit and at that time Jason thought he needed another voice for the chorus. He asked James and he said yes and the result is as we have it on the album. Something like that.

I think it's also known as the Sewing Machine song. Don't know the story behind that, (and behind Bushwalla's voicemail bits) maybe just from the lyrics where he goes 'is it mother nature's sewing machine'. This song has one of the most meaningful, powerful lyrics, in all its simplicity :

If it's a broken part, replace it.
If it's a broken arm then brace it.
If it's a broken heart then face it.

Hold your own, know your name, go your own way.
Hold your own, know your name, go your own way.
And everything will be fine.

Indeed.

I Toadally Get Him :)

I don't get it.

Like how some people do not like Jason's music. While I remain perplexed and still cannot understand why, at the same time, I do respect their music preferences. As long as you let me be too, you know.

December 23, 2008. Jason's website announced his South East Asia dates. My heart lurched and did acrobatic feats worthy of the Olympics! I really did jump out of my seat. Luckily I wasn't having lunch; I would've probably choked on my chicken or something.

Then, last March when I was feeling very gung ho and mighty excited about his KL concert, dear friend said that I shouldn't get myself worked up too much, because, just in case, I may be disappointed.

Huh? I didn't get it actually, but I did calm myself down. I had to, because I still had to take 2 days leave from work, fly 2.5 hours across South China Sea, get into KL city centre, and get to the concert venue before I can say, this is for real. Jason's here man, on Malaysian soil! Of course his arrival has to be 'confirmed' in a way with interviews here and there. Thank God no cancellation like Ms Umbrella-ella-ella-eh-eh who got into a domestic cat fight with her bf in his Lambo. Allegedly.

I took it freaking easy until the moment we stepped into the stadium. I wanted to jump jump jump and laugh at the same time. Deep inside my happy heart was smiling.

Because it loves Jason to bits.

If you don't get it, it's okay you know.

Peace.

Barefoot a.k.a. Kaki Ayam

Just now, I was flipping through the TV channels and caught Anoop just about to start into I'm Yours in the AI finale so I kept the channel there.

So I just noticed that Jason was singing barefoot?

Heh :)

Yours Yours Yours

Jason said that for AI finale, he will sing I'm Yours as if he were singing it for the very first time.

I think he must've already sung it more than a thousand times in the past years.

Imagine that.

Some people can't stand to listen to it anymore. Don't blame them. It's been played to death, to hell and back, over and over again on the radio.

Funnily enough, I have heard the song twice today. And each time I sang along.

As if it were my very first time singing the song :)

An Idol Who's Mine and Rant Session

So Jason was in a sing-along rendition of I'm Yours on the American Idol Season Finale which aired yesterday. I wish they had chosen another song because Jason is getting crap from the silly so-called 'music lovers' out there who think he only has this one song and this one album! Makes me fuming mad sometimes.

I hate these people who are up in arms with the AI result and start calling the American voters - Kris' fans - immature teeny boppers who don't know music or talent. And what makes me boil is that they simply lump Kris in "a Jason Mraz-kind-of-singer category" and call him average? Boring? GRRRRRRR!! Woi, have you listened to all of Jason's music? Have you seen or heard him perform live? How dare you. Just because Kris plays the guitar you lump him in there in 'that' type.

Bodoh is all I can say. I like Adam, too. Yes, he's very talented. I think up till the Top 5 they are all good singers. But you know how these things work, with voting and all that it can swing either way, either Kris or Adam. Neither is perfect. Kris goes off-key, off-pitch sometimes. Adam screeches too much, overdoes it, sometimes. It's okay, they're humans you know. You like it, fine. You don't like it, fine too. In this case, just because your Adam didn't win, don't diss Jason's music okay.

It's not even your idol lah, it's American Idol so let them Americans vote. I don't care who wins because eventually they need to come out with good songs and albums and we'll see whose will sell. Just enjoy whichever songs that suit your palate and leave the rest to others who prefer different types of music.

Anyway, my rant is STOP COMPARING JASON TO ANYONE, OKAY. Bad karma will come to you in heavy doses. To each his own, no need to stir up things. Okay? OKAY?

Anyway, I need to calm down too, I know I know.

Gah. It could've been so much better if he had performed it solo with his guitar. If AI wanted the Top 13 to join in, have them at the last third of the song.

He didn't look that comfortable, did he? How cool it would've been if he had his guitar with him. After what he posted on his blog, there is something that's bugging him. Human.

JM, backstage at AI.

Off with the white jacket I say, but I guess he had to wear something 'dressier' since it's the finale. Must be brand new, haha. Or borrowed. Green tshirt from his friends at Blend Apparel. That old jeans? I think that's his Diesel Viker JM8.

Love love love on a Friday morning.

"You Make It Easier When Life Gets Hard.."

This is a lovely video of Jason and Colbie live on Ellen earlier this year. Both of them barefeet/barefoot? Present or past tense?

Colbie looks taller, and Jason is already about 5' 9". And her dress is so pretty. Jason is wearing the same t-shirt as Tricia is her pic in my post yesterday. Hmmm? Is that the bendy hula hoops?

Right at the end - "Today's musical performance is brought to you by Garnier Fructis. No one makes your hair stronger" - this sounded like Jason.

The Best Job In the World?

Last year Queensland Tourism advertised the Best Job in The World - a six months' contract as Island Caretaker, paying AUD150,000, living for free on Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef - to blog and promote the island. The coveted job was finally won by Brit Ben Southall, who will be taking up the post and bringing with him his bloody lucky girlfriend.

Another even luckier (luckiest) girl?

Meet Tricia Huffman.

Tricia has one of the coolest gigs on the planet, touring the world with Jason Mraz as the first ever ‘joyologist’.

Her one-of-a-kind job description is to "keep the positivity flowing, keep our bodies clean and limber and to make our ever-changing surroundings a little more pleasing to all of the senses."

She prepares their raw food meals (she's the 'chef'), updates JM's twitter, and coordinating basically whatever the team needs.

What a 'job', huh?

And Suddenly The Dreams I Had Were Nothing More Than...

Random JM Pic of the Day:

Jason has a tattoo on his right chest, that reads : RESTAREA.

So when I saw this, of course I had to snap a pic :)

Maybe I Can Build My House Up On Your Cloud

I love avocados. Mmmm. Jason's got an avocado farm, where he lives, in San Diego.

And I've got to find this song, apparently titled Avocado Tree Song. Is it available anywhere?

You’ve been occupying my lines for way too long
I’ve been trying to write a different kind of song
You and your energy, they keep taking over the melody
Sometimes I fear I must do what I think is wrong

I’d rather be writing about the birds and the bees
I’d rather be singing a song under the avocado tree
Just chillin’ under there with no wonders or cares
Just an open heart and an open mind that I’ve been trying to share

So say your bye byes
We say our goodbyes
We say our bye byes… bye bye bye
Why can't we say goodbye
Baby,please say goodbye

Some days I wish I were just a simple guy
I'd sip coffee in the morning and in the afternoon just watch the sky
The sunset explodes and the ocean spray grows cold
And those are the only things that will kiss my face as far as you know

But you know better than that
You think you know what’s better for me
Because you are my better half
At least when I’m sleeping

We think we know eachother
But I barely even know myself
Well how can I be your lover
When there is already someone else

So say your bye-byes bye-bye bye-bye
Baby, please say your goodbyes
Say, baby doll, are you listening?
I can't wait until you leave him!

(Scatting)Sweetheart..... bye bye bye bye, etc.)

I’d rather be writing about the birds and the bees
I’d rather be singing songs for the world instead of me
But you make it obvious
Maybe I’m just envious
Too much to move on from a muse
Maybe I should be stronger, I guess

Well if someone catches the feeling that I’ve been feelin’
I will not object to the prospect of what you could be stealin’ from me
Please take it away
The thoughts of her today
‘Cuz these are my wishes
I can’t scratch enough of the itches that this bitch is

So say your bye byes… bye bye bye
Baby, please say your goodbyes
Baby, now are you listening?
I am right until you make me wrong

So good bye
Bye bye
Say good bye
Say good bye bye
Say good bye bye bye bye bye bye

You're The Best Definition of Good Intentions

I accidentally deleted my Jason folder from my laptop yesterday.

Now how did that happen? How could I let it happen?

Because I left my brain outside my head. And lost the key.

*kick myself and a swift slap to the wrist*

Okay. So now I need to copy and download again.

My drama for the day.

Anyway, on a happier note, I found one new live version of Sleeping to Dream :). Nice.

My Current Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Brought About By Mr Curiosity

How can I not love this man's music?

Unthinkable.

Viva Mraz Vegas

Oh I just read Lisa's post on Jason's special midnight show in Vegas and oh boy, I can imagine how fabulous it must have been!

Jason, James, Colbie, Justin K, Bushwalla ... all were there.

Gotta check out YouTube soon.

Update : found this :) from allie02044.

This is Details in the Fabric, with James, at Palms Las Vegas on May 9th. The walkie-talkie didn't work with Bushwalla supposedly doing the island of reality bit. Still wonderful anyways.

I think Jason looks rather scrawny here. He's shrinking. Look at his shoulders? Girlfriend needs to feed him a bit.

Goofy. Geeky. Goony (?). Gila-gila.

What a natural Jason is in this department :)

One Love

I posted Playing for Change's Stand By Me in my main blog, so I thought it only appropriate to post 'One Love' here, as it is Jason's favourite song :)

Read more about how Playing for Change came about here. And share the love :)

For all the occasional cynicism and skepticism I have in me, I do believe this is a truly noble effort. Only passion can drive a man - Mark Johnson - on this mission to inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through music. Ten years it took; I totally have the utmost respect for everyone involved in this project.

I've got to get the album Songs Around The World - I wonder if our local Starbucks has it?

I'll Be Braver When You Save Me

Looking at Jason's tour dates, looks like he's going to take a well-deserved break after this weekend. He's going home to see his family and cat. Eat avocados and chocomoles and all that good raw food stuff. Surf. Sleep. The good simple life. I think :)

I hope he'll continue blogging regularly, like in this past week :) so we can all stay 'connected' and not suffer from further withdrawal symptoms.

Hey, have you heard of Two Spot Gobi? I only know the one song that was included in JM's Live in the UK CD, and it's growing on me. Nice, wonder how the rest of their songs sound like.

"I'm Underlined Already, In Envy Green and Pencil Red"

Hey J,

Can I get some inspiration from you today?

A recent birthday with no cause for celebration. However I did not forget to be grateful for all that I have right now :). Yes we remember to practice gratitude :)

Am on my second mug of green tea (albeit weakened) today, updated my 2 other blogs, read a bit, worked a bit, listened to your Live in UK CD; and I still feel somehow grey and uninspired.

Hey Mr Curiousity, love is blinding when the timing's never right,
A x

Mraz Love Is In the Air

Based on Jason's latest post in his blog, the man has got a new girlfriend.

:)

I wonder if this will inspire him to write beautiful new songs, on love love love :)

Lucky girl.
