Mraz for Prez?

Jason's 12 Questions post today may be the most complicated yet for me to understand.

Or, did my brain just stop functioning? I need to take an aspirin and re-read it again later.

Still can't figure out this twitter / tweet thingy so my questions are still here with me. Gah.

I need to look for that pink hula hoop so I've got something new to do over this holiday weekend. Can't wait for November for his new stuff, Beautiful Mess (that's me me me!)

Enjoy 'Happy Ending' from our lovely man Mraz:

Let Me Know What Spring Is Like On Jupiter and Mars...

So today in his blog, Jason reveals that he is an 'unbent elbow-lips-shoulder-pelvic bone' kind of guy. His favourite parts of the female body. Haha.

"In other words, darling kiss me ...."

Lovely Mraz rendition of Fly Me To The Moon, with bits of Somewhere Over The Rainbow, courtesy of nopainanymore.

Look at all the 'funny' faces that he makes :)

Mraz - we love.

Unless The Dreamer is the Real You

Inspired by Jason's recent post : beauty in every shade of awesome.

Hey Hey Hey Baby Baby I Try To Find....

Why do you build me up, Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down, and mess me around
And then worst of all, you never call, baby
When you say you will, but I love you still

I need you more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up Buttercup, don't break my heart
"I'll be over at ten", you told me time and again
But you're late, I wait around and then
I went to the door, I can't take any more
It's not you, you let me down again
Hey, hey, hey,
Baby, baby, I try to find
A little time and I'll make you mine
I'll be home
I'll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo
Why do you build me up, Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down, and mess me around
And then worst of all you never call, baby
When you say you will, and I love you still
I need you more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up Buttercup, don't break my heart

I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart....

A Beautiful Mess

My absolute, favourite Mraz song :

I call this 'the orchestra version', performed at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo, Dec 2008.

I saw this on TV last week, however they only showed Jason singing I'm Yours? He was unwell and didn't go onstage for the finale, Toca was there though.

Simply love love love this song. Because it's so ... me.

"A Beautiful Mess"

You've got the best of both worlds
You're the kind of girl who can take down a man,
And lift him back up again
You are strong but you're needy,
Humble but you're greedy
And based on your body language,
And shoddy cursive I've been reading
Your style is quite selective,
though your mind is rather reckless
Well I guess it just suggests
that this is just what happiness is

Hey, what a beautiful mess this is
It's like picking up trash in dresses

Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you write
Kind of turn themselves into knives
And don't mind my nerve you could call it fiction
But I like being submerged in your contradictions dear
'Cause here we are, here we are

Although you were biased I love your advice
Your comebacks they're quick
And probably have to do with your insecurities
There's no shame in being crazy,
Depending on how you take these
Words I'm paraphrasing this relationship we're staging

And what a beautiful mess, yes it is
It's like picking up trash in dresses

Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you say
Kind of turn themselves into blades
And the kind and courteous is a life I've heard
But it's nice to say that we played in the dirt
Cause here, here we are, Here we are
Here we are [x7]

We're still here
What a beautiful mess, this is
It's like taking a guess when the only answer is "Yes"

Through, timeless words and priceless pictures
We'll fly like birds not of this earth

And tides they turn and hearts disfigure
But that's no concern when we're wounded together

And we, tore our dresses and stained our shirts
But it's nice today
Oh, the wait it was so worth it...

Jason's unfinished song What We Want :

Shower Me With Your (Mraz) Love

Do you know or remember this song by Surface?

I do. Imagine Jason singing that when he was much younger. Look what I found :) isn't he just sooo adorable?

Jason Mraz before he was famous singing at Chickahominy Middle School 1991 in the 8th grade.
Video Credit : busymouthheidi via Youtube.

I agree with one of the commenters, you can hear the now-oh-so-familiar inflections in his voice even then.

Awww. So cute! This can be my lullaby now.

Now, what was I doing way back in 1991?

Sending Out A Ray of Sunshine..

Hankering for new stuff from Jason? I am.

Not that I am bored with the current ones. Far from it.

I am just wondering what kind of songs will be in his next album. Cos his inspirations will be different; being the much adored, world-famous, Grammy-nominated, record-breaker, superawesome, sensitive singer-songwriter (is that too much?) that he is now compared to two years ago.

These are new-ish, or at least not in the albums, I may be wrong. They've been performed in his concerts though. Videos from Blacky785, Yorrii, MRAZorback1 and geekinthepurple respectively - thanks for sharing!

Enjoy the Mraz goodness :)

Greetings, Earthlings!

Eeek! Another long break. No excuses.

Here's a recent video of Jason on his Gratitude Cafe tour.

Don't you think he looks a little bit too skinny and .. 'dried up'? Like he needs moisturiser or cream or something. The goatee doesn't help.

He looks tired too. Look at his eyes. I don't see the bright sparkly lights fully switched on.

Poor boy :(

Come let me give you a big hug.

Don't overwork yourself too much okay. Missing your blog posts. Your Ninja antics are hilarious!

The Sky is Yours!

*breaking news*

PEAS, JASON MRAZ SMASH CHART RECORDS

NEW YORK, Aug 20 — The Black Eyed Peas and Jason Mraz will shatter two records for longevity on the Billboard Hot 100 when the singles chart is released today.

With an eighth consecutive week at No. 1 for “I Gotta Feeling,” the Black Eyed Peas will have held the top slot for an unprecedented 20 straight weeks, having previously led the list for the preceding 12 frames with “Boom Boom Pow,” the lead single from its album “The E.N.D.”

Also entering the record books is singer-songwriter Mraz’s “I’m Yours,” which notches an extraordinary 70th week on the Hot 100. The track debuted on the May 3, 2008, chart and peaked at No. 6 nearly a year ago, on September 20, 2008. The song has resided within the top 40 of the list in all but the first 12 weeks of its chart life, dropping six rungs to No. 29 on the latest tally.

The Black Eyed Peas’ 20-week string atop the Hot 100 surpasses Usher’s run of 19 consecutive weeks achieved in 2004 with “Yeah!” and “Burn.”

On establishing the mark for longest successive stay at No. 1 in the Hot 100’s 51-year history, Peas member will.i.am commented, “With this kind of success your ego wants to take all the credit, but your heart reminds your soul that it was your heart that had you slaving and creating in the studio making the music; breaking through comfort zones and tradition. In the fight between heart and ego, my heart always wins.”

Fellow Pea Fergie added, “It’s an amazing feeling to know that these songs have connected with so many people who have kept them alive for so long.”

For Mraz, his never-say-die single overtakes the weeks-on-the-chart mark held for nearly 11 years by LeAnn Rimes’ signature hit “How Do I Live.” That ubiquitous track spent 69 weeks on the Hot 100, ending with the October 10, 1998, chart.

Multiformat airplay is one of the reasons for the staying power of “I’m Yours.” It’s the only track to reach No. 1 on each of the following four radio-based charts: Mainstream Top 40/Pop Songs, Adult Contemporary, Adult Top 40, and Triple A. It has also appeared on Latin Pop, Smooth Jazz, and debuts this week at Rhythmic.

Concerning the song’s multi-genre appeal and long shelf life, Mraz said, “I think it’s because it borrows from every one of those formats. Or perhaps the song is genre-less. The first two and a half minutes have so little production you could almost classify it as spoken-word. Yet it’s rhythmic and melodic at the same time.”

Aiding its continued presence on the Hot 100 is the fact that “I’m Yours” ranks as the third-best-selling digital song (4.4 million downloads) since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking download sales in 2003.

Only recently did Mraz begin to realize that “I’m Yours” was nearing unprecedented chart territory. “I found out about six weeks ago that the song was on its way to breaking this record. I was moved. ... I’m still blown away — humbled by the success of my happy little hippie song.” — Reuters

I'm Yours will always be special, no matter what, where, how long .... yupp J, it's my happy little hippie song!

Can Anybody Tell Me Where They're Teaching Short Term Memory?

Oh I have been inexcusably distracted that I haven't posted for a week!

Unforgiveable.

Okay, moving on...

Jason came to remind me that he existed as last night while reading online I happened to glance at the TV after hearing a very familiar voice.

It was our man Mraz 'acting' in this show American Dreams (from some years back) where he played Dion, singing Ruby Baby! It was just a snippet but enough to lure me to the box :)

For the life of me I do not know who Dion is nor have I ever watched the show, but I know now I must catch the repeat whenever it is. I thought Jason's hair looked really funny, all poufed up and slicked back. And the costume ... ha ha ha !

And JJ Hitz advised everyone to stay well, have enough vits and to chill out to some Mraz music today. Good advice in view of what's happening around us with the flu and haze and bad politics and toxic stuff like that.

Which I am doing now for the next few days I need a huge dose to make up for the few days that I have been away. His music feels so good. Makes my ears smile and my brain mellow.

By my own volition, it's my oxygen.

And hey, another me and J similarity! We both love Garfield! Wey hey... soul to soul my Mraz! And can someone tell me where I can get the banana carrying case? Can someone get that for me for Christmas please thank you very much.

I leave you now with Jason's loopy Cannabis College:

It's Supercool So Keep It Going, Alright?

He just cracks me up with this *LOL* Come on, show some ENTHUSIASM for the day!

His post today reveals he's been not too well lately.

Get well soon from that reflux thing, J. And thank you for sharing your one glass of voice with us through your blog.

Buckets of love.

The Measure of Love Will Never Ever Be Lost...!!

Am currently listening to 'On Love, In Sadness' from JM's Selections For Friends.

I am almost sure this video is for the same session at Villa Montalvo, July 2006, I maybe wrong.

A grainy video where some said he's stoned. Haha. So what.

Brilliant for a sing-along.

Is There A Doctor In The House?

In the mood for something mellow from my Mraz:

Hey J,

When are you coming back to Malaysia?

Soon?

Love,
A x

As you can see, I am suffering from a severe case of Mraziositis. Symptoms include, but are not limited to, tendency to break into Mraz songs, a compulsive need to watch Mraz on Youtube, singing along to Mraz songs, smiling to oneself when listening to his At Last cover, and saying 'something like that' at the end of sentences.

One may also develop a sudden liking to wear a straw fedora, and a taste for blended avocados.

The good thing is, it's not highly contagious. Not at all.

It's only for special people; those who geddit ;)

And Now Your Altitude and Memory's A Shame..

As usual, Jason's post is awesomely thought-provoking.

Soulmates. Which I wrote about recently in my personal journal. This telepathic thing is in place, I am no longer joking about it :)

I have wondered, if, in the Grand Ending of this world (if ever there is one in the Grand Scheme of Things), that all the Gods of all the religions turn out to be the same one, the One Almighty.

All religions start out with good intent, however in this convoluted world, we human beings have made things complicated.

Have you ever wondered how it was like during those cavemen times when the biggest worry was probably whether you're going to be eaten up by a T-Rex? They didn't have to worry about terrorism, crime (in today's sense of the word), global warming and so on. They probably also did not expect that evolution will take place, dinosaurs will be extinct, etc.

These days we worry, and we worry a lot.

We worry about rising temperatures due to global warming. We worry about depletion of natural resources and scramble to find alternative resources to replace them. We worry about warring nations and civil unrests. We worry about rising unemployment, economic downturns, layoffs and so on.

We brought this upon ourselves, yet it just seems too messy a tangle for it to be untangled any time soon.

Anyway, my rambling can go on and on. Jason's makes more sense.

So, share the message : Be Love.

p.s. Reminds me of the song : Love Is The Message in the early 90s. Who sang that?

I've Got Nothing But Love...

I've been wanting to post this so many times.

So today is the Day.

Have you actually read Jason's dedication and thank-you's in his album WSWDWST?

I did so sometime a little while back in May. It wasn't that easy to read (it's not J's handwriting by the way), so it took me some time to write it out, so I can treasure it for posterity.

Here goes:

"Max Gratitude to Martin Terefe for believing in this project from the start and into the celebration. Thanks for treating me as one of the kings. I wholeheartedly wish to thank Sam Riback for sharing the vision, encouraging the best songs, and holding down the fort while I went swimming. Thank you Bill Silva, Aya Taguchi, Ryan Chisolm, and everyone at BSM for the telescopic view that puts me in the centre of the universe. You always make me feel most awesome. Krazy thanks to Dyre Gormsen, Sacha Skarbek, Mike Dixon, Darling Nici, Kaptain Iain & the Kensaltown Kings; and to everyone likely standing at the K Bar right now. This rekord is yours. All my awe goes to Tony Maserati for the marvellous mix. He lives in outer space and I am jealous. Thanks for introducing me to a new super dynamic! God bless all the musicians and singers. Especially those who didn't get paid for playing all the stuff that doesn't appear on the album. I want to slap palms right now with Andy Karp, Craig Kallman, and everyone at Atlantic for watching my back. I love the love you give. Thank you Lyor Cohen, John Esposito, Julie Greenwald, Dane Venable, Mike Easterlin, Lina Tortella, Cindy Z, Jack Mc Morrow, Adam Abramson, Sheila Bachman, Camille Hackney, Jonathan Feldman, Torsten Luth, Rie Fujiwara, Max Lousada, Gregg Nadd, Kevin Wearer, Danielle Bond, Craig Rosen and Anne De Clemente. David Saslow, Brian Corona, Lany Alessandrini. I owe a great deal of groveling to the dancing feet of David Shrigley for his generous talent, devilish doodles and wise words. I'm happy to have stolen from you. Naked hugs for designer Greg Burke, photographer Bill Zelman, Style Counsel Brandy St John, and freestyler Tawney Bevacqua. Thank you Dan Wilson for being a mentor. Thank you Cat Bramhall for being honest, gracious and gentle. It was my pleasure loving and learning from Abigail Kornstein. Thanks be to Adam Aspelin and KUCD in Honolulu for checking out the Youtube love on 'I'm Yours' and sharing it with our friends in the islands. Mahalo. Also this record would not have been the same without love from David Davidson, Carlos Sosa and the horny horns, Chris Gehringer & Chris Athens at Sterling Sound, the Drunken Penguin - Andy Gerard, the Hot Rosie Scott, Billy Galewood, Noel Rivera, Jarrod Allen, Jennifer Sheridan, James Morrisson, Michael Blue, Colbie Caillat, Tim Fagan, Midwest Jessica Schroeder, Bob Schneider, Brett Dennan, Chris Keup, Roxanne & Mark Bowen, Rita Ora, Dawn Kinnard, Josie Taylor, Eric Hinojosa, Adam King, Ian Sheridan, Tricia Huffman, Jerry Lindahl & Robbie Robinson at Sounden Studios, Kevin Monahan, Mcflow, Raining Jane, Voicez of Prayze, Nick Caston, Tyler Huff & the Sand Diego Crispy Team, Holmes, our 2007 Thanksgiving Dinner guests and my loving family of course. And thanks be to Jonathan Adelman/Paradigm; Emma Banks & Randy Salcedo/CAA London. Nancy Chapman, Patty De Francesco, Teresa Polyak, Seth Lichtenstein, Galinda Braga, Sandy Miller, Jaret Gill, Phil Daniels, Bob Borbonus & Taylor Guitars. Your support gives my music the freedom of flight. And of course I've got nothing but love for the listener. Aloha.
WE SING. WE DANCE. WE THANK YOU. "

Phew!

I LOVE the love you give :)

If It Ain't Dutch, It Ain't Much ...

I love this series of uploads of Jason playing in someone's garden in Ootmarsum, Holland. I remember watching a docu about how this impromptu gig came about during his 'tour' in Europe. You can play in my garden anytime too, J.

Thank you Ottowannabe, wherever you are, for uploading these.

I name it the 'Ootmarsum Garden Party' and am loving that stripey multi-coloured rug that's used as the stage backdrop and on the sides as well.

For those of us who are Youtube-JM fans, you'll be familiar with that rug :) (makes me want one for my wall!) Please enjoy the rest of the Ootmarsum videos as well whenever you need a good dose of MrazGoodness.

And I love Jason in pink :)

And I love the way he writes in his notebook.

Here's two videos of Jason getting audience input - words and phrases- in creating a brand new song on the spot! If I were there I'd throw him this word : plodding. Heh.

Part 1.

Part 2.

Isn't he just simply awesome? Sooooooo talented. Who can top that?

OMG. I just looked at the date of the party and it was filmed on July 15th, 2007. Just a week and 2 years ago. Talk about timing.

Love the ending : "..something like that.."

Sweet!

What About Taking This Empty Cup, and Filling It Up with a Little Bit More Of Innocence..?

Well, what can I say?

I feel like highlighting the various sentences and words that Jason wrote in his latest 12 Answers and putting them right in front of me, so I can see it every day. I am inspired - not in a gung-ho, just-do-it kind of way though (some days I do feel that way!) - and it puts me in a reflective mood.

Reading through the comments, I don't know why some people write as if they're dismissing his answers or thoughts. Like saying Jason is not a parent so what would he know about taking responsibility for others other than himself? Then there's one that almost disses him for being so uppity chirpy and reminding him that there's an ugly side to the world as well.

Hmm. Don't you think Jason knows and realises all that? I think you missed the point.

The weather outside is Hogwarts-like, all grey and wet, the sun trying to shine its way through the clouds.

Listening to Jason's World Cafe album; my mood is hooked on this song so it's on repeat now :)

Love For A Child : Video is wobbly, audio is clean though.

Every time he sings this song I wonder if this is drawn from his own family experience.

I swear I can hear the emotions in his voice.

Even cracks right at the end.

Open Up Your Mind and See Like Me a.k.a. My Nose Is Itchy

Loved Jason's post today.

Which fits nicely into my new found mantra : Love Life, Not Stuff.

At the last estimation, I have over 30 pairs of shoes and countless sandals; more than 75% of which I hardly wear. Some are still unworn, brand new. So tell me again why I need to go buy another pair?

Years ago I would've replied with my 'black heels aren't just black heels' speech. I actually had as many as five pairs of black heels under my office desk so I had my options and can change my shoes as I fancy throughout my day. Today, I think I've learnt to appreciate that shoes are shoes, I can buy them as a replacement to an worn-out pair, not as an addition to my collection because it looks pretty.

On receiving, I very much agree that sometimes it is not easy to just 'accept' things; he is right, the generosity of others can be overwhelming, uncomfortable.

I am very conscious when friends or other people pay for my lunch etc. If it's a special occasion, that's a different story. There's always that tiny feeling of uneasiness, the closest that I can describe it is 'guilt' (why guilt? I don't know).

I guess apart from practicing gratitude, I have to learn the practice of receiving as well. Giving is even more noble, and I believe in what is said that 'let your left hand know not what your right hand is doing'. Or something like that :)

"Words and pictures make the best souvenirs for any adventure"

- I cannot agree with you more, Mr Mraz :), and thank you for these language lessons : abre los ojos; besos y abrasos.

*scratching nose*

Taste These Teeth, Please..

I've always wondered what Plane was all about.

The plane is about to land?(...I cannot wait to call you and tell you I have landed somewhere...)

Or the plane has just taken off? (...I'm leaving your town, again...)

But I'm slowly getting it. As with many of his songs, this is one which has one of the best lyrics.

Isn't it interesting what Jason meant with 'taste these teeth, please...'?

Who would've thought that 'and undress me from the sweaters that I'm wearing' was about the fuzzy texture of unbrushed teeth? *eeeek*

"...baby hell yeah..."

"..damn, you..!"

- I love the way he sings those bits !

Donde Esta Mi Cerveza?

Tonight, Jason is performing in Barcelona.

Oh that's just too much. My favourite man in one of my favourite cities! (yet to go there though..) I hope he'll post a picture and write something about the city. Would love to know his thoughts.

Another perasan moment coming:

Jason doesn't tweet. Same with me.

He prefers to blog. Same here.

(I'm hopeless with twitter, and can't afford a Joyologist)

For me, the more words, unencumbered numbered words, the better.

My current favourite picture of J. Am reposting this again!

Sun's out, what a lovely evening this is going to be!

Row Row Row Your Boat..

Pic Credit : JT Mraz.

Wheeeeeeeeeee!

Told ya, Jason and I we are telepathic, I kid you not!

His latest blog post talks about 12 Answers to 12 Tweeter Questions.

And who wrote about Twelve Things in Singapore recently?

ME ME ME!

Doubt no more, this is for real :)

Great answers from J by the way. I have to think now, what would I like to ask him?

Top of my head, I'd pose these:

Do you dream in colour?

Do you believe in signs?

What's your favourite movie and why?

Do you have any favourite blogs? Which ones are they?

Which place on earth (that you haven't been to) that would you like to visit most? Why?

I'm bad at tweeting, will try nevertheless to tweet this to him.

Love. Besos. Love.

Chuffed. You Done Done Me.

I'd like to share my recent Jason moments before I forget :

(i) Street Busker along Orchard Road singing I'm Yours. I stopped and listened to him (smiling and singing along in my head) until he finished. He fumbled with the lyrics but that's okay :). Give the man a dollar, as Jason said.

(ii) Bella Luna, playing at the Gap store in The Centrepoint as I shopped.

(iii) At the Crumpler shop in Paragon, the guy's name was Jason :)

(iv) Lucky, playing in Guardian just now.

(v) My password for this wifi facility : 5jmrz3xd.

Heh. Chuffed is the Word of the week.

It's All About An Attitude for Gratitude!

I just love his last two blog posts!

Summer dresses indeed :P so he's a legs man, eh?

And since I can be perasan all I want in here, I am chuffed to bits (as you are too I am sure) that we - that's me and you! - made it to his No. 10! Yeay!

Are we grateful or what?

Am missing updating my own blogs the past week as I have been away and decided not to be online too much except check on my mail and JM's blog :)

I dedicate Friday as my Gratitude Day; inspired by Jason and Cafe Gratitude. It helps a lot, it puts things and people and situations into perspective and makes me more alert and aware. Puts me in place. :) I like!

My Gratitude List is in my personal blog only, if it weren't for Jason I would not have started practising gratitude in the way that I am now.

So, my utter gratefulness to this being Jason Mraz, for sharing such simple yet beautiful practice.

You have all my love.

There's No Need to Hurry When I'm Making Up My Mind..

That's what I'll say to Jason if when I meet him in person.

"I think you are magic"

Amongst other things. Once I calm down.

I can say for sure now that I'll go gaga when I see him up close.

However, there's no telling if I suddenly clam up and become dumbstruck and/or faint!

Mraz for Beginners - Lesson 2

Our lesson on Mraz 101 continues :

(i) In a Gap 'Favorite Jeans' advert he mentioned that his favourite song is One Love by Bob Marley.

(ii) When asked which album he would recommend for a doctor's waiting room, he gives Alan Parson's Project's 'Eye In The Sky'.

(iii) When asked which of his album he would recommend, he answered his 'Live' album (Live at Java Joes) * this was before WSWDWST.

(iv) He would most like to duet with Willie Nelson.

(v) He used to date Tristan Prettyman circa 2004-2006.

(vi) He once wore a tshirt which said TPISMYGF. Go figure :)

(vii) He wears Blend Apparel tshirts most of the time; he's a partner.

(viii) 'Song for A Friend' is apparently about Holmes, his cat.

(ix) In addition to 'restarea' and 'beginner' (refer Lesson 1), he's got a rooster tattoo on his lower back, as well as symbolic male and female figures on his inner right forearm. Also a 'XXIII' on his upper back.

(x) The colour of his eyes vary, from hazel brown to green. Like a mood ring :)

Those eyes ..
and I love the colour of his tee-shirt.

....And My Words They Retreat, Building Histories Into Something Unknown

Just one of my favourite acoustic versions of Unfold:

from : BloEmPje, Cafe Dachkammer.

Pic credit : JT Mraz. Glastonbury, June 2009.

Jason having a blast at Glastonbury. Look at the crowd. Oh wow. I wish I was there.

Anyway, it's time to revive my dormant JM project soon :).

$ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

Sometimes when my thoughts are stuck, I stop and think.
My thought process:

What would Jason do?

Does it really matter to me?

Would it matter to others?

and lastly, lately :

Do I care? How much?

So yeah. It's pretty sick that Jason comes into the picture in my thinking process.

Heh :)

"Go On, Build Your Mountain With Your Mind" - Why We Love Jason Mraz

Jason had a blast at Glastonbury.

Boo hoo. Only because I so want to see him perform live again! From his latest tour dates, it looks like there are no plans to be in Asia in the next few months.

Jason please come back to South East Asia soon because it's sunny and hot and happy here it's like summer all year long! (...okay, we do have our rainy days :P .. )

I've posted this video some months back, reposting it here. This would be my perfect, perfect Jason concert.

Here in this performance, Jason : talks to audience, knocks mike stand, cracks jokes, makes fun of Toca, scats, growls, snaps finger, gets jiggy, wiggles hips, sticks tongue out, holds a note, makes the peace sign, claps, asks audience to sing, gives signs to the band, is barefooted, has hat on, old tee, shares the love, blows a kiss (? sounded like it), dedicates song to Mom, and sings the song in a fresh, cheerful, original way.

It's so Jason.

That's why we love love love this man. That's why I always come back to this video when I need that push for the day. Yes, we can sleep all day, and we can build our mountains with our minds.

I'm Waking Empty, but Seldom Sleeping

Am listening to Unfold.

I love love this song. But then again, I love all his songs! :)

I wish I can write beautiful lyrics and prose like he does.

I attempted a few words in the last few minutes and they suck. Heck. I'll leave the beautiful prose to you my dear J.

I saw you on TV again today. Love love love!

With Love and In Gratitude, Undivided

I simply must re-produce this from Jason's blog:

What Sleep?
Everyday a fly day
From a plane seat into promo into show
Into another late night made new.
Cases about, bag unpacked in a way that words fall out.
And then as it is, it is past 3am and
The Scandinavian nightshade is drawn loose.
The day is long and full of light.
The day is long and I am hardly full.
On this day, I am kept alive on love alone.
Seen often as the beauty that so many wonderful souls dare share,
A light cast in hoopshine as it spins around friends,
My community of Saturns.
A light not unlike moonglow
Seen from space as a safe and familiar place.
A soft spell cast from a montage of faces.
A light like hers radiates from parted lips.
Though I have not witnessed its welcome dip in more than a month
She is burned into my mind
Better than any shape or song I could memorize.
What light!

Fondness rode the swings over Tivoli and I was elated
Sincerity slipped another sunrise into watery eyes
Train stations spit citizens back onto the streets
And I am still not asleep.

Life has my attention
Undivided.

Simply beautiful.

Lucky I'm In Love with My Best Friend ..

An opportunity to learn Spanish !

Do you hear me? I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky oh my, baby I'm trying

Se que quiero cuando te vas
supe desde tiempo atras,
es que mi corazon no sabe
queres hasta volverte a ver

Suerte que despierto junto a ti,
Suerte que senti lo que senti
suerte que regresas para mi

Uhhhh Uhhhhh Uhhhhhh
Nadie tiene la razon
de que exista el amor
solo hay un tu y yo
la promesas de los dos
me esperaras, aqui estare
lo seeeeeeee

Suerte que despierto junto a ti,
Suerte que senti lo que senti
suerte que regresas para mi

Suerte que hay mas para conocer
Suerte que contigo crecere
Suerte que te tengo al volver

And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music, feel the air
I put a flower in your hair

Todo tiene final feliz
desde que te conoci
no hay mas que las ganas
de estar y volver a empezar

Suerte que despierto junto a ti,
Suerte que senti lo que senti
suerte que regresas para mi

Suerte que hay mas para conocer
Suerte que contigo crecere
Suerte que te tengo al volver

..The One That Tells You To Taste Past The Tip of Your Tongue..

I had three Jason moments today - perfect eh? :)

#1 : I'm Yours playing in the supermarket as I was in the vegetable aisle.

#2 : I'm Yours playing on the radio in the car on the way back.

#3 : Jason special 'documentary' on nTv7 this afternoon.

Aspects of Life Confuse Me, You and Your Thesis Amuse Me...

You know one thing that will really make my day, anytime?

An unexpected Jason encounter moment. Or I just call it 'a Jason moment'.

Like, when I was in the Times bookstore in KL Pavilion last May, in the member's lounge flipping through some books and magazines; softly in the background, they were playing A Beautiful Mess. The moment when I realised that, I smiled like a chimp. Smile slowly expanded to a wide grin, like a chump. And I'm thrown off balance for a few moments in time, enjoying the beauty of the song.

Let me see, what other Jason moments can I recall?

Having lunch in a cafe in Sandakan, and someone's handphone rang with I'm Yours as the ringtone. That made me chuckle and grin :)

Was walking into a convenience store and the radio was playing The Remedy.

Passing by Kimanis and saw the sign for a Restarea by the side of the road.

Was reading the newspaper and seeing the initials JM immediately thought of the man.

When reading anything and seeing the name Jason, automatically thinks of the man :).

Seeing a gnome, thought of JM and Toca Riviera.com

Buying an avocado :)

Dang, I should've documented all those moments so I can remember them.

What's your Jason moment? Did he make you smile? I bet :)

I Tried To Be Chill But You're So Hot That I Melted ..

More on I'm Yours.

I think I started enjoying that song very much around April-May 2008. It wasn't getting that much of airplay yet at that time. I hadn't even seen the video in its entirety.

I later sent an mp3 version to a good friend, introducing it as the perfect song for a lazy day at the beach, feet up, good book and a cold beer in hand.

He since has it as one of his ringtones.

I'd like to think that this was is our friendship song :). A song he will remember me by until whenever. Perfect.

The song still makes me smile, one year later. No diminishing returns.

Mraz for Beginners - Lesson 1

You Don't Know Me But I Know You..

Friday's here!

After a few days of listening to varied music out there, today it's back to my old Jason collection. You're my favourite star, truly bright you are.
"Who Needs Shelter"
Good day sunlight
I'd like to say how truly bright you are
You don't know me but I know you
You're my favorite star
Follow you I will
So lets get moving

Who needs shelter when the morning's coming?
Absolutely there's no one
Who needs shelter from the sun?
Not me, no
Not anyone

By your clock the cock rooster crows
Then off to work where everybody goes
Slow, But eventually they get there
Picking up the day shift back where all left off
Confined and pecking at relationships
You know it's only a worthless piece of shit

Who needs shelter when the morning's coming?
Absolutely there's no one
Who needs shelter from the sun?
Not me, no
Not anyone

I'd sleep it all away but the sun won't let me
I'd miss those lovely days of summer

Good day sunlight
I'd like to say how truly bright you are
You don't know me but I know you
You're my favorite

Then They Remember the Part in the Hallmark Card...

The man is on a roll. Another post today? Way to go, Solar Boy.

:)

I was wondering, which Mraz song would be the perfect summer song. Hmm. I'm Yours would win hands down, I guess. I still stop and watch it everytime it's played on TV. And sing it everytime it's on the radio. No one minds. Or at least no one dares to change the channel or the station :)

Other songs : Sleep All Day is a good one. I'll Do Anything is also good. The Remedy (I see fireworks on the freeway!). Wordplay?

Anyway, his songs are for all seasons so I need not crack my head over this.

Oh What A Lovely Day to Have A Slice of Humble Pie...

I wrote to a friend yesterday and jokingly bragged that Jason and I are on speed dial. So I pretty much know what he's up to. Haha. That's my wish.

Well, guess what. It gets better. Much, much better than being on speed dial.

I think, me and J; we're telepathic.

YES. Stop laughing and pick yourself up from the floor now.

In my main blog I wrote about my wall of fame for excellent service providers. And what does Jason write about today? Go read.

Hah, you see what I mean?

Anyway I'm going to ask him to come back to Malaysia everytime I comment on his blog. That's sort of my petition strategy. I love it that he's posting quite a bit now; it makes my mornings sunnier and happier!

And It Was Time For All The Wrong, And Lonely Lonesome Reasons...

I am still laughing after reading Jason's latest post this morning.

Oh, you can be my boogieman, my pebble, my ripple, anytime J :)

Drop a pebble in a lake and eventually the ripples go beyond what you’re capable of seeing. If you can touch, move, or inspire just one person in your lifetime, it will have a powerful impact on the world.

Live knowing that your extraordinary actions will still be resonating across that lake for 7 generations and then some.
- JM

He mentions his summer tour a lot. Gah. I wish he will come back to this part of the world. I think I can manage if he comes to KL, Singapore, even Jakarta! I want to go, I will go! Never mind if no one else is as enthusiastic. Or crazy. It's gonna be oh so worth it.

No news either whether he's gonna be back for SingFest this year. I feel like I should start a petition to have him come back to KL. I am realistic enough to admit that he's not going to hold a concert in KK, okay.

Mad About the Boy.

Of Intrails and Exits

Today has been kind of weird.

Because on one of the blogs I usually read, the author wrote about our relationship with food. Which led me to read other related stuff and got this bottom-line, basically one that every one knows by now : you are what you eat. Simple, eh?

Not really. Cos the process doesn't stop there. What happens after you eat is equally important.

And today Jungle Jason has to write about our No. 2, Big Business, Investment, and various other phrases and words we have to describe our daily crap. Ha ha.

He was 'being really anal' and wrote :

Save toilet paper!
8 squares! (to be precise)
Use single ply!
Use both sides!
Use water!
Use a leaf!

* okay, the exclamation marks are mine :P

My favourite line has to be the one with the intrails and exits. Simply put - efficient intrails result in smooth exits.

That's what a whole load of bananas can do :)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Anyhow, on a more serious note, I am rethinking my relationship with food. Seriously.

"It's the Fault of Faulty Manufacturing.."

Men wearing hats are considered 'in-style' now.

In an online BBC news article shared in FB, they mentioned some public figures who don hats as part of their attire. Hugh Jackman has been named celebrity hat wearer of the year. Er, I don't recall a picture of him wearing a hat.

Jason wasn't mentioned. WTH. Neither was Indiana Jones (okay, so he's a fictional character).

I know J wears them so he doesn't have to bother about his hair. I am a bit confused though on the style of the hat he usually wears nowadays (like the one in the I'm Yours video)

Is that a fedora; a straw fedora? A coconut fedora? What's a trilby, then?

I remember seeing a girl at the departure lounge of Sandakan airport, and she was wearing this fedora-like hat and she even looked like Colbie with her nice cotton dress! I am embarrassed to admit that I took a picture discreetly, as she sat in front of me.

Anyhow, maybe I'll get one for myself some time in the future, if it fits my funny shaped head and I don't look too silly :)
